The Acoustical Depatment of JBA offers a full range of engineering, design and field measurement services in architectural acoustics, noise and vibration control. Our clients rely on us for accurate, efficient and timely service. Our expertise in acoustical analysis and experience with architectural construction allow us to accommodate the needs of practically any building design.
As an integral part of the architectural design team, we provide more than solutions. Our clients have available to them our years of experience detailing the construction of architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Further, we provide accurate, project specific specifications to be included in the construction documents.
We offer acoustical and noise control engineering services in the following areas:
Room Acoustics
Analysis and coordination of space geometry and interior finish materials to provide a proper aural environment. Including the use of 3D computational models for performance spaces.
Architectural Noise Control
Analysis of noise transmitted between spaces in the building and coordination of noise mitigation methods or adjacency changes. Including assessment of code compliance for dwelling unit demising partitions (STC) and floor-ceiling assemblies (IIC).
Building Systems Noise and Vibration Control
Analysis and coordination of noise and vibration control with respect to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, vertical transportation, chute systems and water features.
Airport Environ Noise Control
Analysis and coordination of the building exterior envelope and any penetrations thereof to comply with federally mandated aircraft noise control (FAR 150) implemented in local building codes.
Construction Observation
Review of contractor material submittals and shop drawings relevant to acoustics. Perform formal observation visits during the construction phase to survey the status of the acoustic and noise control related installations.
Acoustical Commissioning and Measurements
Measurement and data analysis in accordance with industry standards to confirm the acoustical quality and characteristics of the finished building. Including field testing of room-to-room sound isolation and impact isolation of floor-ceiling assemblies.
